-Malika and Khadijah Haqq are descended from the Afro-Iranian community; their parents are immigrants from Khuzestan, Iran. Afro-Iranians are Iranians of confirmed Sub-Saharan African descent. Most Afro Iranians are concentrated in Hormozagan, Sistan and Baluchestan and Khuzestan. Through the Indian Ocean slave trade, Arabs captured and sold enslaved people to the Persian Gulf, Egypt, Arabia, the Far East, the Indian Ocean islands, Ethiopia and Somalia.
